There is an option to allow you to simply change the Engine on an existing Approved Permit. You can use this option when you need to replace an engine in an existing piece of equipment that has already been approved for an underground diesel engine permit. The system will copy the information from the selected permit, except for the Engine Serial Number.

Please note: If you submit an Application to change an engine, the original permit will be cancelled!

Follow these steps below to update an engine:

  1. Hover over OHS E-Services. Under MINE PERMITS, click on New Mine Permit.


    From the Home Page, click on the Permits icon.

    Then click on the New Mine Permit link.

  2. If you are NOT logged in, the system requires you to authenticate. If you do not yet have an online account, please create an account. You will also need to add your employer and request access from you Access Administrator to allow you to Apply for Permits online for your employer.
  3. New Mine Permit

    Please select:

    • Employer – select your employer from the list (if you associated to more than one employer); and
    • Mine – select your mine from the list.

    Click on ‘Review Getting Started’ to move to the next step. Please note: If you do not wish to view the ‘Getting Started’, you can click on ‘Continue’ to skip this step.

  4. Application to Operate a Diesel Engine Underground – Getting Started

    The system displays an introductory page that outlines the information/details that are required to complete your application.

    Cancel – if you do not have the information required to submit your application, click on Cancel. 

    Continue – Click to move to the next step.

  5. New Underground Diesel Engine Permit:

    Enter the Permit # or Mine Equipment # and click on ‘Start’ in the ‘Engine Change?’ section.

    The system will load the permit data, and allow you to update the information.

  6. Update the information on Step Two – Equipment Information:

    STEP TWO – Equipment Information

    Please provide the Equipment Information:

    If the engine manufacturer or engine type is not in this list, select Other and enter the information into the text box provided:


    Navigate to the ‘Review and Submit’ step.


    STEP FIVE – Review and Submit

    Once you have completed all required fields, you can view your entire application before submitting it to the WSCC.

    Warning! You are missing required information! The application below is still missing important information as indicated by the thumbs down icon and is marked in red.

    To fix this, click on the Edit icon to return to that area of the application and complete any required fields (as indicated by the red asterisk).

    Success! You are ready to submit your Application!


    At any point you can print your application, regardless if it is complete or not. Please click on the print application icon to print your application to PDF.

    Submit to the WSCC

    Before you can submit, you need to acknowledge the disclaimer. Please check this box once you have read the disclaimer:

    Click on the Submit Application to WSCC. Upon submission, the system:

    1. Cancels the original Permit. The system provides you a warning message. Select ‘Yes’ to continue submission. 
    2. Submits your Application to the WSCC for processing.
    3. Provides you with a Reference Number for your submission:

      Click on ‘OK’ to dismiss the message.

    4. Sends you an email notification containing your Reference Number.

Please note: The WSCC processes your application within three business days. If additional information is required, you will receive an email notification to the email provided. Once the WSCC has reached a decision, you will be notified by email. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact the WSCC.
